"CMB is the place to B2B." – Sheri Tarr, 68 Partners
“This industry is so eclectic and there’s so much opportunity for everybody to participate and collaborate so that we can build a really robust industry together.

“I decided to come to this show because this is the B2B place to be in cannabis. I also was an invited speaker. I had a beautiful day with other panelists. We had a retail and cultivation boot camp and it was a firehose of information for anybody that was fortunate enough to show up.”
– Sheri Tarr

Federal Cannabis News
Legislation for Federal Legalization
A bipartisan trio of Representatives put forth legislation that proposes to federally legalize cannabis in every state. Representatives Dave Joyce (R-OH), Max Miller (R-OH), and Dina Titus (D-NEV) reintroduced the legislation called the Strengthening the Tenth Amendment Through Entrusting States (STATES) 2.0 Act which would give all U.S. States, Washington D.C., U.S. Territories, and federally recognized tribal nations the right to determine how to approach cannabis within its borders. Does this have legs? Is it viable? Will it make it through any votes? What is this legislation?

Equity & Entrepreneurship:
Business Tools for Cannabis Entrepreneurs to Level the Playing Field
In April, CMB hosted the webinar “Equity & Entrepreneurship: Business Tools for Cannabis Entrepreneurs to Level the Playing Field.”
We are featuring the recording of that webinar in this newsletter.
For so many in the cannabis industry, the path to success is riddled with systemic barriers. The lasting effects of the War on Drugs, the prison pipeline, and financial roadblocks continue to hold back entrepreneurs from the very communities that fought hardest for legalization.
The webinar panelists discussed:
- How to navigate certifications, funding, and strategic business partnerships
- Access to certifications, business support, and financial resources for Equity entrepreneurs
- Strategies to connect with allies, build networks, and secure sustainable growth
- The power of education, collaboration, and allyship in breaking industry barriers

Moderator:
Jillian Reddish, Co-Founder, Global Cannabis Network Collective (GCNC)
Speakers:
Mike Lomuto, Board Chair of the Minority Cannabis Business Association
Ramon Garcia, Co-Founder, Co-President of Equity Trade Inc., Co-creator of Equity Trade Certification (Federal Certification Mark) and Equity Sessions
At the end of the session, Mike and Ramon gave a shout out to the CMB:
Mike Lomuto: “One of the things I’ll say so far about CMB, from what I’ve seen, is that there is a lot more intent and intention to figure out…and that makes all the world of difference.”
Ramon Garcia: “I want to shoot that shout out to Cannabis Means Business…Like Mike was saying about being intentional about pulling in different views and being very diverse. It is necessary for a conference or a trade show to be as diverse as possible in this industry because it is something that is ever evolving and changing. And if we’re not investing into the diversity of that, you could be turning away the next greatest thing just because they’re smaller and they can’t afford to actually participate in a way that other capitalized companies participate.
“And so I appreciate you guys really looking at that very intentionally and very creatively and making sure that there is access. Because the biggest part of all this is information.”
