Pennsylvania Cannabis News
Adult Use May Not Make June 30 Deadline
Efforts have been made by Pennsylvania lawmakers to legalize Adult Use several times. The latest attempts were hoping to get it done in time for the June 30 budget deadline. Earlier this May, PA House of Representatives passed the HB1200 Bill which would have legalized Adult Use with a state-run model to operate dispensaries. This was shot down by the Senate Law and Justice Committee as it did not support the state-run model. The goal of getting Adult Use passed in PA may not happen by the June 30 deadline.
It’s complicated.

Tribal Nation To Operate Off-Reservation Dispensary
The first ever authorization for a tribal nation to operate dispensaries outside of its reservation was granted by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, for White Earth Bans of Chippewa. This is ground-breaking for the state.

SAFE Banking Act
So where does the SAFE Banking Act stand? Cannabis business owners have been waiting for some time for its passage. Despite several attempts to pass it, even with bipartisan support, it is still not done. The latest news on the SAFE banking possibility, is that it could be inserted into a Crypto Bill called the GENIUS Act. GENIUS is an acronym for Guiding and Establishing US Stable Coins.
Smart Approaches to Marijuana, a leading anti-cannabis group, has sent out messages to its recipients to rally against such a possibility by Congress.
What Happened to Rescheduling? Legalization?
An interesting article came out in the NYT that discusses how cannabis reform under both the Biden and Trump administrations did not happen, even though there appeared to have been support to do something significant.
“It should be noted that the CMB has always been THE premier conference for the NYS cannabis industry, well before adult-use was legalized.
“CMB has carefully curated a physical nexus for business leaders and the advocacy community to network and to celebrate cannabis.” – Kristin Jordan
